Pam was introduced to PL in San Francisco in 1985 and then, in 1988 she and her husband to be, Wilbur, were married at the San Francisco PL Church. She was happy to find a PL church in Brisbane when she, Wilbur and their first son Nicholas, moved to Australia in 1995. In 1997 she became a hokyoshi at the Brisbane PL church.
She said that PL has helped her to become a more positive person instead of always worrying about many things.
She had an interesting experience occur when she moved into their present house in Brisbane, when she went out of her way to be friendly with the woman next door. The neighbour was a very shy person and it was almost as if she was hiding to avoid greeting Pam. At first she saw her hanging her washing on the clothes line and Pam wanted to introduce herself but the woman quickly disappeared as if she was avoiding her. She thought the neighbour may have felt strange because Pam is Asian but she intended to try again to greet her. Her persistence paid off when she was finally able to introduce herself to her neighbour and they are now friends. The woman even introduced her to a relative as a customer for Pam's home hair dressing business. Later on this relative joined PL.
Just recently Pam received a miraculous blessing. She had been having a slight pressure and discomfort in her lower abdomen for over a year. Then on February 2nd this year, she had an ultra sound test and the specialist said that she had a polyp in her uterus. He drew a diagram of her uterus and explained that the polyp was at the base of it and was about 8 cm in size. He said she should have an operation right away and a biopsy sample would be sent for testing.
Pam was worried about this situation and called the PL church. She was advised by one of the ministers to go to the church to receive the Oyashikiri Prayer and also request a Mioshie. It's a 40 minute drive to her church and usually her husband drives her and their two sons to the PL services. However, she was advised by the PL minister to do her best effort so that she could receive a blessing for her condition. So following the minister's advice she drove to the church. After requesting a Mioshie and receiving the Oyashikiri Prayer, her worry about her operation and her condition disappeared.
On the 6th of February (2004) as scheduled, Pam went to the hospital to have the operation to remove the polyp. After the operation she was startled upon being told by the doctor that although they were prepared to remove the polyp it had disappeared. Pam feels that Oshieoya-sama has given her a big blessing.
